Alicia Bowers is the Senior Vice President for Innovation & New Ventures at Advocate Health, the resulting combination of Atrium Health and Advocate Aurora Health. Over her twenty years with the enterprise, Alicia has served in multiple roles that have allowed her to be an integral part of the evolution of what is now one of the largest non-profit academic health systems in the country.​​After spending six years in private practice as a litigation, appellate, and health care lawyer, Alicia joined Atrium Health in 2005 as in-house counsel where she advised on a variety of risk, operational, regulatory, and contractual health care matters. In 2013, she transitioned to serve as the Chief Privacy Officer for the enterprise where she built a top tier Privacy Program and managed multiple national and high-profile events. In April of 2020, she took on the additional roles of Chief Compliance Officer and executive leader for ERM. Her pragmatic and risk-based approach were well-suited for the challenges and opportunities presented by the pandemic, including as a member of the team who stood up Atrium Health’s leading Hospital at Home program. ​In 2023, Alicia joined the Innovation & New Ventures executive team, leveraging her diverse experiences and relationships and bridging the risk and business perspectives. She provides leadership in a variety of innovation and new venture areas with a focus on innovation strategy and integration, innovative partnerships and ecosystem development, data interests, innovation in education including IRCAD North America, and co-development and commercialization opportunities. Alicia has also been a key member of the enterprise leadership team designing the strategic plan for Advocate Health, and works closely with the national service lines, health equity centers, care at home teams, and academic and research cores. ​​Alicia attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, graduating with a degree in English and minor in Chemistry. She later graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law with a Juris Doctor with Honors and as a twice-published member of the Law Review. ​

Enjoy working with cross-disciplinary teams to solve problems, connect solutions, and drive impact; strong interest in clear and creative communications that engender engagement. Personal interests include foreign languages, home renovation, and more recently, rowing.
