Bernard Jones, DSc, MBCP

Dr. Bernard A. Jones, CBCP, is an Adjunct Professor at Wake Forest University, teaching undergraduate courses in enterprise risk management. He is a National Board Member of the Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP) and the ACP Special Interest Group (SIG) Committee Chair. Before joining Wake Forest University, he served as a certified business continuity, risk management, disaster recovery, and emergency management professional with over 30 years of experience reviewing and implementing enterprise business continuity, enterprise risk management, disaster recovery, and emergency management programs. Dr. Jones earned a D. Sc. degree from New Jersey City University in the area of civil security leadership, management, and policy, an MS degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology in Emergency Management – Business Continuity, an MS degree from Kean University in Management Information Systems and a BS degree from the University of Phoenix in Management Information Systems. His research and teaching interests focus on organizational resilience, enterprise risk management, disaster preparedness, and emergency management. His research agenda focuses on how organizations quantify their resilience posture, allowing them to work toward addressing their organizational resilience weaknesses and enhancing their disaster preparedness. Additionally, he focuses on research topics of interest, including emotional intelligence competencies within emergency management and racial and ethnic disparities in disaster preparedness and response. Academically, he is passionate about educating students and assisting organizations in enhancing their resilience and risk posture and addressing resilience weaknesses while driving toward improving disaster preparedness. Dr. Jones is all too familiar with disaster impacts on organizations, and he continues to assist students in exploring career opportunities in risk management, disaster preparedness, and emergency management. At the top of Dr. Jones” priority list is preparing all his students to land a job and start their careers!
