Miguel Buleje, Ph.D.

Dr. Buleje is an accomplished academic leader and senior technology executive with more than 25 years of experience spanning higher education, global consulting, and Fortune 500 organizations. He brings to Wake Forest University a distinguished record of excellence in teaching, curriculum design, faculty leadership, scholarly research, and enterprise transformation. Dr. Buleje served as Professor and Faculty Chair in higher education prestigious institutions with a focus on Engineering and Information Sciences, where he provided academic leadership for more than 50 faculty members while advancing curriculum innovation across undergraduate and graduate STEM programs. His work has been instrumental in enhancing student engagement, instructional quality, and academic outcomes in disciplines including computer information systems, cybersecurity, project management, data analytics, and enterprise systems. He has also served multiple curriculum development and advisory committees and has led the design of several high-impact courses adopted across institutional programs. In addition to his primary academic role, Dr. Buleje has held adjunct faculty appointments at nationally and internationally recognized institutions. He has taught extensively at the master’s and doctoral levels and has served as dissertation chair and committee member for Ph.D. candidates, mentoring scholars through the successful completion of their research. Dr. Buleje is an active scholar whose research focuses on cybersecurity, enterprise systems, project management, and emerging technologies in higher education. Complementing his academic career, Dr. Buleje has held senior executive and consulting roles with organizations such as Medtronic, Accenture, Home Depot, SAIC, and IBM. His industry leadership includes serving as Senior Director and Director of IT Program and Portfolio Management, where he led large-scale digital transformations, ERP implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and global enterprise integrations. He has advised executive leadership teams on strategy, governance, organizational change management, and technology modernization across healthcare, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and higher education sectors. Dr. Buleje holds a Ph.D. in Computer Information Science, an MBA, and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Quality Assurance, along with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. He maintains multiple professional certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Six Sigma, and ITIL. His professional background, combined with his scholarly and pedagogical expertise, enables him to bridge theory and practice while preparing students to thrive in technologically complex and rapidly evolving environments.
