Dr. Robertson is the Medical Director for Gaston County Public Health and is double Board Certified in Obstetrics/ Gynecology and Lifestyle Medicine. As Gaston County’s Public Health Medical Director, she oversees the agency’s provision of clinical services and supervises the work of physicians and providers. She also leads the department in delivering health services for the entire community and acts as a liaison to other local health agencies and community health partners. Dr. Robertson led and served on Gaston County’s COVID-19 & Influenza Task Force during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Dr. Robertson is overseeing Gaston County’s newly formed Maternal and Child Health Section in Public Health. Prior to medical school, Dr. Robertson conducted clinical research for a private urology practice with a focus on hereditary prostate cancer in African American men, female sexual functioning and female urinary incontinence. During this time, she also began her work in public health serving as the program director for a local health and education foundation in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Robertson’s early career experiences in clinical research and public health shaped her medical career as an advocate for women’s health and public service. While in medical school, she opted for the rural health clinical track to gain more insight on caring for rural populations, worked at the hospital sponsored free medical clinic and the Centering Pregnancy practice. During her obstetrics and gynecology residency, she took a special interest in health literacy and was awarded the Chief Resident Research Award for her study, “Health Literacy in Obstetrics”. As an attending physician, Dr. Robertson was awarded the “Excellence in Patient Care” recognition from Atrium Health and “Rookie of the Year” from Gaston County Public Health for her work in private practice and public health, respectively. Dr. Robertson has also served as a guest speaker and panelist on topics regarding women’s health, maternal and child health, COVID-19, immunizations, and leadership in healthcare. Dr. Robertson earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science Degree in Biology from Georgia State University. She earned her Medical Doctorate from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Continuing her education as an attending physician, she completed the Public Health Leadership Certificate Program from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Robertson was also awarded a certificate of completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Executive Education.
