Finance for Healthcare Professionals

Many healthcare providers have responsibilities beyond patient care, including managing budgets for their departments or practices, deciding on medical equipment purchases, or managing a profit/loss center. Knowledge of financial statements helps in creating, monitoring, and adhering to budgets, while ensuring that expenditures are aligned with revenue and financial objectives. To be able to make sound decisions, healthcare leaders, whether clinical or administrative, need to understand how financial information is prepared for external users and how to use internally generated financial information for managerial decision-making. In addition, to make investment decisions for new equipment or other resources that may benefit the organization over a long period of time requires a basic understanding of capital expenditures, the cost of acquiring funds to support those investments, and return on investment.

This virtual short course is ideal for administrators and providers who work in the healthcare industry looking to increase their financial acumen. This program provides participants with the financial literacy that is becoming an increasingly important skill in a healthcare environment characterized by complex financial structures, cost pressures, and the need for profitable care  delivery.  Providers with an understanding of financial statements are better equipped to make sound decisions, manage resources efficiently, maximize revenue, ensure compliance, and contribute to the overall financial health of their organization.
